Steven F. Reich is the General Counsel for the Americas at Deutsche Bank AG. In that position, Steve is the principal legal officer for all of Deutsche Bank’s operations in North and South America, and he serves as the chief legal advisor to the regions’ Boards of Directors and business leaders. Steve is a member of numerous firm committees, including The Global Legal Executive Committee, The North American Regional Governance Board and the Americas Reputational Risk Committee. Steve has held positions in both private practice and government over the course of his career. In the private sector, Steve was a partner at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP and, before that, at Manatt Phelps & Phillips LLP. He began his private practice career as an associate at Covington & Burling. At those firms, he focused on white collar criminal defense and complex civil litigation matters. In government, from 2011-2013 he held the title of Associate Deputy Attorney General at the U.S. Department of Justice. Earlier in his career, he served as Senior Associate Counsel to President Bill Clinton; on the staff of then-Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle; and, before that, on the minority staff of the Judiciary Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives. From 1994-1998, he was an Assistant Federal Public Defender for the District of Maryland. Steve is a graduate of Columbia Law School and Columbia College.
