Gene Ludwig

Gene is a business leader and expert on banking, regulation, and risk management. He is managing partner of Canapi, a venture capital firm focused on investments in early to growth-stage fintech companies. He is also the founder and CEO of Ludwig Regulatory Group, which advises financial firms on critical matters, and founder of Promontory MortgagePath, a technology-based mortgage fulfillment and solutions company.

Gene is chairman of the Ludwig Institute for Shared Economic Prosperity (LISEP) – a non-profit focused on middle- and low-income families. Its research includes new economic indicators for unemployment, earnings, and cost of living.

He is the founder and former CEO of Promontory Financial Group and Promontory Interfinancial Network (now IntraFi Network). Gene was previously the vice chairman and senior control officer of Bankers Trust New York Corp. He served as the 27th U.S. Comptroller of the Currency. Prior to that, Mr. Ludwig was a partner at Covington & Burling.
