Ellen Patterson

Ellen Patterson is Senior Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Wells Fargo & Company and serves on the company’s Operating Committee. She is also the executive sponsor of Wells Fargo’s women’s initiative.

Ellen joined Wells Fargo in March 2020 from TD Bank Group, where she was Group Head and General Counsel, responsible for the Legal, Compliance, and Physical Security groups, among others. Prior to TD, Ellen was a partner at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, advising financial institutions and other clients on mergers & acquisitions, capital markets, and governance.

Ellen is a graduate of Harvard College and Columbia Law School and serves on the board of directors and executive committee for The United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey. She has been recognized on American Banker’s Most Powerful Women in Banking Women to Watch list for the past six years, including the #1 spot in 2021.
