David Rich

David Rich, Executive Vice President, leads Vocalink Services for Mastercard. In this role he has global responsibility for leading efforts to bring new and differentiated data insights, analytics and consulting to customers across financial services, the public sector and businesses.

Mastercard data encompasses 2.3 billion cards issued by over 24,000 financial institutions and accepted at over 40 million merchants globally, as well as bank account-based data through its recent acquisition of Vocalink.

Prior to this, David led partnerships and M&A for Mastercard Advisors globally. This entailed building commercial partnerships to diversify and grow recurrent revenue while driving scale and reach across all regions, and managing M&A activity to complete and extend core competencies. He moved into this role after establishing and leading sales of Advisors’ Information Services data analytic products globally to merchants and financial institutions. This saw him working closely with the product teams to enhance and develop new products, and demonstrating thought leadership in facilitating digital commerce as evidenced through patent filings.

Before joining Mastercard, David held key roles at Citibank, leading consumer and small business lending across the U.S. and Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), commercial banking across EMEA, and small business banking across the U.S. northeast. While working as part of Citibank’s Global Consumer Group, he also developed expertise managing secured and unsecured lending products, client management across consumer finance, cards and retail banking, cross-sell, and consumer segments.

In addition to financial services, David has prior global experience across industries including telecommunications, publishing, trade and online. This includes VP, Director and Managing Director positions in product management, sales, marketing, strategy, and finance for Telstra Corporation, Bankers Trust, Sears and VNU Business Publications. David also developed product development life cycle expertise while managing ecommerce, Eftpos and data services products at Telstra, and raised capital, founded, and subsequently sold a start-up internet service provider business in Australia.

David has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of New South Wales in Sydney Australia, and a Master of Business Administration from the Melbourne Business School, University of Melbourne. David also attended Officer Training (Army) at the Australian Defence Force Academy (Duntroon), in Canberra.
